Under the SIID I&D Empresas programme our project has been officially approved, reinforcing the quality, ambition, and innovation behind our proposal and marks an important milestone in our mission to accelerate the energy transition through data-driven intelligence and advanced artificial intelligence.
The SIID I&D Empresas programme, part of Portugal 2030, supports companies engaged in industrial research and experimental development. Its objective is to empower high-impact technological projects capable of strengthening competitiveness, fostering innovation ecosystems, and generating long-term economic and societal value. Being approved in such a selective and competitive framework highlights Enlitia’s ability to deliver research-driven development with real-world impact.
This approval matters because it reflects the strong technical merit, innovation potential, and execution capability of our proposal. With the full eligible cost of €751,671.28 recognised, the programme’s decision shows complete confidence in the project’s design and strategic alignment. It also reinforces Enlitia’s position as a leading AI-and-data company within the renewable energy sector, strengthening our competitiveness for future public and private funding opportunities. Most importantly, this support will accelerate the development of a new generation of AI modules for forecasting, optimisation, and operational decision support, ultimately creating greater value for renewable energy asset owners and operators.
At the core of this project is the development of a new generation of intelligent systems for the operation of hybrid renewable energy parks, built upon a multi-agent ecosystem capable of learning, communicating, and making autonomous decisions. Unlike the rigid and centralised approaches that dominate the market today, this architecture distributes intelligence across specialised agents, spanning production, maintenance, markets, and battery systems, that collaborate dynamically, adjust forecasts in real time, and optimise decisions based on the specific context of the park, market conditions, and equipment status. This decentralised coordination unlocks a more efficient, resilient, and adaptive mode of operation, particularly valuable in environments marked by uncertainty and high variability.
Complementing this technical evolution, the project introduces an explainability and interaction layer powered by large language models (LLMs) and XAI techniques. This layer makes the reasoning behind complex AI-driven decisions transparent and accessible, enabling operators, managers, and technicians to understand the logic of each agent, assess risks, and adjust operational strategies without requiring deep machine-learning expertise. By combining autonomy, transparency, and usability, the project transforms AI from an invisible engine into a collaborative operational partner, one that supports human decision-making and accelerates the adoption of artificial intelligence in the energy sector.
Beyond the internal innovation, this milestone contributes to the broader transformation of renewable energy operations. As energy systems become more decentralised and data-intensive, the need for intelligent, explainable, and adaptive tools becomes critical. With this project, Enlitia aims to help operators navigate this shift confidently, improving forecasting accuracy, increasing operational efficiency, and driving more resilient long-term performance.
“This approval not only validates our technical vision but also reinforces our mission to apply artificial intelligence as a driver of efficiency and sustainability in the renewable energy sector. With this support from SIID I&D Empresas, we are ready to accelerate development and deliver even greater impact to our clients and partners,” says Tiago Santos, Enlitia’s CEO.
